America, The Battle for Abortion
Fifty years apart, two decisions by the United States Supreme Court have overturned the fundamental right of women to control their own bodies. A seismic shift with immediate repercussions, the revocation of the right to abortion in the world’s first democracy reveals that women’s rights are still subject to question, targeted, and used as political tools, and liable to disappear at the slightest crisis. On June 24, 2022, a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the right to abortion is no longer a constitutional right. Each of the 50 U.S. states is now free to ban it, without any valid exception: neither rape, nor incest, nor medical deformity.
